Editing Event Properties
All gates and events have properties associated with them. You can edit the properties of a gate or event by double-clicking it or by right-clicking it and selecting Properties from the menu. To view these properties:
1. In the FTA Diagram, beneath the Mech Fault OR gate, double-click the left event you inserted to open the Event Properties window.
2. On the General page, do the following:
a. For Identifier, enter Bearing Fault.
b. For Description, enter Mechanical bearing failure.
3. On the Calculation Data page, do the following:
a. For Input Type , leave it set to Constant probability.
b. For Probability, enter 0.0015.
4. Click OK to close the Event Properties window.
5. In the FTA Diagram, beneath the Mech Fault OR gate, double-click the second event you inserted to open the Event Properties window.
6. On the General page, do the following:
a. For Identifier, enter Media Fault.
b. For Description, enter Hard drive media failure.
7. On the Calculation Data page, do the following.
a. For Input Type, select Failure rate/MTBF.
b. For Failure rate, enter 0.0001.
8. Click OK to close the Event Properties window.
9. In the FTA Diagram, beneath the Elec/SW Fault OR gate, double-click the event you inserted to open the Event Properties window.
10. On the General page, do the following:
a. For Identifier, enter Controller Fault.
b. For Description, enter Hard drive controller failure.
11. On the Calculation Data page, do the following:
a. For Input Type , leave it set to Constant probability.
b. For Probability, enter 0.0125.
12. Click OK to close the Event Properties window.
13. In the FTA Diagram, double-click the External Fault undeveloped event to open the Event Properties window.
14. On the Calculation Data page, do the following:
a. For Input Type , leave it set to Constant probability.
b. For Probability, enter 0.0002.
15. Click OK to close the Event Properties window.
