Permission Descriptions
The following table describes the permissions that are specified for a group. Any time group members have the permissions necessary to perform some action, they can also undo this action. For information related to using these functions, system components, and support files, see the help or guide for the desktop application of Windchill Risk and Reliability. You can download the latest copy of the guide from the Reference Documents area on the PTC website.
Permission
Description
Function
When the checkbox for a permission is selected, the corresponding menu command or option is available to members of the group. When a checkbox is cleared, the command or option is unavailable to members of the group. These permissions apply to functions performed in all Windchill Risk and Reliability modules.
Access other groups’ records
Indicates whether data security is to be implemented based on group membership. When you insert a record in a FMEA or FRACAS table, it is tagged with your user group. When this checkbox is selected, users in a group can access the records inserted by all groups. When this checkbox is cleared, users in a group cannot access the records inserted by other groups. For example, if you have a group named Contractors and this checkbox is cleared, users in the Contractors group can view all records inserted by members of the Contractors group, but they cannot view records inserted by members of any other group.
Add items to list
Indicates whether group members can add items to a list by directly entering new items in a data field in the System file. This function permission is independent of the access permission for List Library files. When this function permission is selected, users in the group may add list items to fields in the System file regardless of the access permission selected for List Library files.
Allow copy to Team file
Indicates whether group members can copy Projects to Team files. Because Projects must be copied to Team files so that they can be packaged and attached to email messages, this checkbox also affects whether Project > Package for Emailcan be selected in the desktop application.
Allow selection of reduced Audit Trail on import
Indicates whether group members can use the advanced option for reducing the number of Audit Detail records added to the Audit Trail file during an import. When this option is selected, only one Audit Detail record is created for each record added during an import. This can improve performance during the import.
Change password
Indicates whether group members can change their own passwords.
Create file backups
Indicates whether group members can create file backups.
Cut/Copy/Paste records
Indicates whether group members can cut, copy, and paste table records. To copy and paste records, at least a Read/Edit/Add Records permission is required for the system component. To cut records, the comprehensive Read/Edit/Add/Delete Records permission is required for the system component.
Edit File Properties
Indicates whether group members can display and modify file properties for the files that they can access.
Export data
Indicates whether groups members can export data from tables to external files. No restrictions exist on the data fields that can be exported. This means that group members with export permissions can select any field, regardless of restrictions placed on fields. Users with this permission can also export data from all tables, regardless of record access permissions.
Generate LSAR files
Indicates whether group members can generate LSAR (logistics support analysis record) files from data in the FMEA, Maintainability, and Prediction modules.
Import data
Indicates whether group members can import data into tables. This also requires at least a Read/Edit/Add Records permission for the table.
Perform calculations
Indicates whether group members can run calculations. This also requires at least a Read/Edit Records permission for the records included in the calculation.
Perform global changes
Indicates whether group members can make global changes to data stored in the System file. This also requires at least a Read/Edit Records permission for the records to be changed. Access permissions for this file are set.
Run Filter Wizard
Indicates whether group members can start and use the Filter Wizard to create and apply filters from within the System file. This permission does not affect whether group members can open and start the Filter Wizard from the Filter file. Access permissions for this file are set in the 3. Support Files section.
Send company email
Indicates whether group members can use the Send company email command in the desktop application to send messages to other Windchill Risk and Reliability users.
Use DataEngine API
Indicates whether group members have permissions to use the Windchill Risk and Reliability DataEngine API. For more information, download the guide for the DataEngine API from the Reference Documents area on the PTC website.
View Audit Trail
Indicates whether group members have permissions to generate Audit Trail reports.
View calculation results
Indicates whether group members can view calculation results. This permission, which also requires at least a Read Records permission for the System Tree Items table, applies only if Perform calculations is cleared. Selecting this checkbox allows group members who cannot run calculations themselves to view results calculated by others.
Graphs and Reports
The permissions under this heading are for graph and report generation in the desktop application. If a group does not have both generation and wizard permissions, they cannot start the wizard.
Generate graphs
Indicates whether group members can generate graphs from existing Graph Template files. Users with this permission can generate graphs using the data in all tables, regardless of record access permissions.
Generate reports
Indicates whether group members can generate reports from existing Report Design files. Users with this permission can generate reports using the data in all tables, regardless of record access permissions.
Run Graph Wizard
Indicates whether group members can start and use the Graph Wizard to create graphs
Run Report Wizard
Indicates whether group members can start and use the Report Wizard to create reports.
Windchill
The permissions under this heading affect integration with PTC Windchill PDMLink/MPMLink. They are applicable only if PTC Windchill connection settings are specified. For more information, see Specifying Settings for Connecting to Windchill. All PTC Windchill change object functions are supported when connection settings are for PTC Windchill 10.0 M020 or later. For more information, see the “ PTC Windchill Integration” section in the help or guide for the desktop application.

System Components
Descriptions follow for the permissions to assign to tables and subtables for various modules. Table permissions also affect permissions for associated forms.

Read/Edit/Add/Delete Records. Group members have full access to records. Group members can open and view records, make changes, and insert and delete records.
*
In this section, several checkboxes are also available for permissions related to associating table records with problems. Each of these checkboxes indicate whether group members can associate records with existing problems. For FRACAS incidents and FMEA actions, checkboxes also indicate whether group members can escalate records to create new problems.
Support Files
The support files used with specific modules are listed alphabetically under module headings. Following the last module heading, the Input/Output Files heading lists the support files used to set up Projects and output data from System files. Beneath it, the Other heading lists support files for specific Project features. The permissions assigned to all support files but those under the Input/Output Files heading are the same as those assigned to system components.
