Update
This topic describes the Update action available from the File menu in Creo CADDS 5 and in Windchill as shown in the following figures.
The Update action refreshes the objects in your workspace with the latest object data from the Windchill server.
In most cases, you work with the latest copies of objects from the server. However, in some cases you may work with objects that are downloaded to your workspace and are not checked out. In the meantime, if changes are made to these objects on the Windchill server, the objects in your workspace become out-of-date. When this occurs, you must refresh the objects in your workspace with the latest object data from the server. This process is known as an update.
Usage Examples
Your workspace configuration specification is LATEST and you have version A.2 of an object added to your workspace. However, in the meantime, a different user has checked out this object and has checked in version A.3. Update identifies your object as being out-of-date. and gives you the option of bringing the A.3 (latest) version of that object into the workspace. A workspace preference allows you to set the defaults used when this action occurs.
Another example of using an update is when you have defined a more specific configuration specification for your workspace. You can use the Update action to ensure that the data in your workspace conforms with the configuration specification that you previously defined. Update aligns the versions of objects you have in session with your primary workspace in accordance with your workspace configuration specification. Update is always unidirectional and starts from the server to replace what’s in session within your workspace.
