Editing in the Items Tab
The Items tab is an efficient location for editing usage information about parts. Click a row in the table to highlight that row, use the SHIFT or CTRL keys to highlight multiple rows, double-click an editable field to highlight and change its value. The table cells enclosed in boxes can be edited.
Use the TAB key to move the cursor to the right and down within the editable fields in the table. Use the SHIFT and TAB keys to move the cursor to the left and up within editable fields in the table. The HOME key goes to the first editable cell and the END key goes to the last editable cell.
*
The parent part must be checked out to edit usage attributes. Editing any attribute in the Items table automatically checks out the parent part. You must check in the parent part when editing is complete to save the changes you have made. The assembly is not checked in automatically.
The toolbar at the top of the Items tab and the context menu provides the following actions:

Attribute
Description
Editing
Item Number
(Optional)
References the callout for the part in the illustration associated with the parts list.
The value of this attribute is deleted if the value of the Illustrated attribute is set to No.
Item Number values can contain letters and integers. Items are sorted numerically, with letters following integers.
Item Sequence Number
The same Item Number can appear multiple times in a parts list. The value of this value specifies the placing of a specific part in the sequence of occurrences.
Enter an integer number for the part.
Indenture
A parts list can contain both a subassembly and its child parts. During publishing, when a subassembly's quantity is more than 1, a row is added to the parts list to show that the quantities of the child parts are based on one subassembly.
Enter an integer number for the part. The greater the number, the deeper the indentation.
Part Number
The unique numeric identifier for the part. This attribute can be automatically supplied by a standard part number generator when parts are created in your system.
Name
The text identifier for the part. Does not have to be unique.
Quantity
Identifies the quantity of the part used within the assembly.
Enter a quantity value for the part.
Default Unit
Unit of measurement for the quantity on the part.
The Service Parts preference Enable Default Unit Editing controls whether this value can be edited.
