Creating and Editing Indexing Rules
To create or edit an indexing rule, click a domain’s name from the Domains pane in the Policy Administration window and select the Indexing Rules tab. In the Search Results table, choose one of the following:
To create an indexing rule, click the create new indexing rule icon.
To edit an indexing rule, select an existing rule for the current domain and click the edit icon , or click Edit from the right-click action menu on a rule, even if it is not selected. If you right-click in a row that is not selected, the selections are cleared.

If more than one rule is selected in the Search Results table, then the edit icon and Edit in the right-click action menu are disabled. The action is also disabled for rules from other contexts that are displayed as a result of including ancestor domains in the search.
When creating a rule, you must set the following properties for the rule:

Click find to open the Find Type window. Select the object type for which you are defining a rule from the Object Type tree.

All subtypes of the selected type inherit the rules defined for the type.
Types that are not instantiable do not display in the Find Types window by default, however any that you specify in the property wt.admin.hierarchyListAdditions.wt.index.Indexable of the wt.properties file will be displayed provided the type can be indexed.
State
Select the life cycle state that an object must be in for the rule to apply, or select All to apply the rule to the object, regardless of its state. If State does not apply to the selected object type, it is disabled.
Available Collections
Lists the collections defined for the system in the following properties: wt.index.federatedLibraries and wt.index.federatedLibrariesForSearch.
To move a collection from the Available Collections list into the Selected Collections list, double-click on the collection name or select one or more collections and click Add.
Selected Collections
At least one collection must be selected to create an indexing rule.
To remove a collection from the Selected Collections list and return it to the Available collections list, double-click on the collection name or select one or more collections and click Remove. Clear All removes all collections from the Selected Collections list and returns them to the Available Collections list.
When you are satisfied with your choices, click OK to save the changes and return to the Policy Administration window.

Click Apply to save the rule and clear your selections to create another rule. Use Reset to clear the fields and reset the values to the defaults when you first opened the window.
OK and Apply are disabled until a type, state, and collection are selected.
Edit Indexing Rule Window
When you edit an indexing rule, you can only modify the collections. Click OK to save your changes and return to the Policy Administration window. At least one collection must be selected to save changes to the rule.
