Linking to Objects from the Notebook
There are several actions available that allow you to link to an object from the notebook:
Add to My Notebook
Add to Hot Links and the add to hot links icon
Paste
New Link

Add to My Notebook
To add object links using the Add to My Notebook action, use the following procedure:
1. From the right-click actions menu of an object, select Add to > Add to My Notebook. You can do this from several information tables in which the object may appear, such as the Folder Contents table.

Navigate to the information page of an object or context. From the Actions menu, select Add to > Add to My Notebook.
The Add to My Notebook window opens.
2. In the Location field, select an existing folder in your notebook from the drop-down list. Leave the field empty to create the link at the top level.
3. Click OK. The Add to My Notebook window closes.
or
Click Apply. A link to the object is added to your notebook, but the window remains open so that you can add the link to another folder.
You can view the link by selecting Quick Links > My Notebook or by navigating to your Home page and selecting Customize > Notebook.
Add to Hot Links
To add object links using the hot links action, use the following procedure:
1. In the Home > Updates table or the Home > Checked-Out Work table, select the checkbox next to one or more objects. Click the add to hot links icon on the table toolbar.

In the Folder Contents table, select the checkbox next to one or more objects. From the Actions menu, select Add to > Add to Hot Links.
2. A confirmation message appears stating that the object has been added to your hot links. Click OK.
The link is now saved in your My Hot Links folder.
You can view your My Hot Links folder by selecting Quick Links > My Notebook or by navigating to your Home page and selecting Customize > Notebook.
Paste
To add object links from the clipboard, use the following procedure:
1. Copy an object to your Windchill clipboard.
For some object types, you can select Actions > Copy from the object information page.
Most information tables, such as the Folder Contents table, allow you to copy an object by selecting Copy from the right-click actions menu of an object. You can also select the checkbox next to an object and select Copy from the table Actions menu.
2. Navigate to the My Notebook table or the Notebook table. From the table Actions menu, select Paste.

If you want the link located in a specific folder, select the checkbox next to that folder before selecting Paste.
A link to the pasted object appears in the notebook.
