Incorporating a Part Instance
A part instance is described as incorporated on the day it is assembled. The Set Incorporation action is used to specify the dates defined below:
Estimated – A date in the future that the part instance will be assembled.
Start – The date the part instance was assembled.
End – The date the part instance version is no longer in service.
The Set Incorporation action can be accessed from the Actions menu on the part instance information page. It is also available in the right-click actions menu for a part instance selected in the Structure tab.
The following sections describe how to set Estimated, Start, and End incorporation dates.
Set Estimated and/or Start Incorporation Date
Use the following steps to set Estimated and/or Start incorporation dates:
1. Select Set Incorporation from the Actions menu on a part instance information page. The Set Incorporation window is displayed.
2. The Set incorporation dates section has date entry fields for Estimated and Start incorporation dates. You can add, edit, or remove the Estimated incorporation date. You can also add a Start incorporation date.
*
The Estimated incorporation date can be set to any date.
*
The following criteria apply to setting the Start incorporation date:
Can only be set if all child part instances have been allocated and incorporated.
Must be today’s date or earlier.
Cannot be set to a date within the start/end date range of a previous part instance version.
3. Click OK to commit the dates.
