Exporting from the Workspace
*
If the wt.property, allow.export.to.add.to.Workspace, is set to true, users of the Windchill Workgroup Manager for CATIA V5 can initiate an export via workspace from the following pages.

Information page
Import or export of CAD data is only available in Windchill PDMLink or Windchill ProjectLink.
Export of CAD documents and attached files is supported only via the active workspace of your primary server where the workspace has access to cache (offline workspace is not supported).
To export objects from a workspace, you can use either the Basic mode or the Advanced mode for collecting the object set. In the Basic mode, you can specify rules that determine what set of objects are to be included in the export in addition to the initially selected objects. In the Advanced mode, you can use collection and configuration tools to incrementally add or remove objects to or from a table listing of objects, before committing the action. You can move from one tab to the other; however, returning to the Basic tab may remove objects you have collected while using the Advanced tab. For more information, see Collecting in Basic Mode and Collecting in Advanced Mode.
Exporting Using the Basic Mode
Use the following procedure for the basic mode:
1. Select one or more objects to export, and select Tools > Export from Workspace.
The Export CAD Documents window opens, displaying the Basic tab, by default. The Basic mode offers the following fields for you to specify which dependencies or related business objects you want to include in the export:
Dependents—Specify Required (default), All, or None
Drawings—Specify None (default), All, or Initially Selected Only
2. Exporting objects already in the workspace uses the workspace configuration specification. If you are exporting from the commonspace (that is, from the folders, search results, or information pages), you can select a configuration specification (shown in the Current Settings field), by applying, viewing, or editing filters. Use the controls in the following table.
Control
Description
(Current filter)
Opens the Filter Properties window, displaying the current dependency processing, including the Type and Details.
(Edit filter)
Opens the Edit Filter window, allowing you to edit the filter applied to the selected structure.
For more information, see the Windchill Help Center topic, “Editing a Structure Filter.”
3. In the Target Directory field, enter the path to the target directory, or click Browse to navigate to a target directory.
4. Select the Reuse content in target directory check box if you want to avoid overwriting files of the same name in the target directory.
5. Optionally, select the Secondary Content checkbox to export secondary content with the CAD documents.
6. Click OK to export the objects as you have specified.
Exporting Using the Advanced Mode
Use the following procedure for the advanced mode:
1. From the Basic tab of the Export CAD Documents page, select the Advanced tab.
Your initially selected objects plus any additional objects collected according to the specifications on the Basic tab appear in the Collect Objects table. For more information on basic table use, sorting, using and customizing views, and finding strings in the table listing, see the Windchill Help Center topics, “Using Tables” and “Customizing Table Views.”
*
In addition to common Windchill table features, the Collect Objects table includes a table display options icon on the right side of the table toolbar. Clicking this icon allows you to select the viewing option View Selected Objects Only.
2. When exporting workspace objects, the workspace configuration specification is used. When exporting from the commonspace (that is, from the folders, search results, or information pages), the Current Settings field displays the results of any applied filters. In the table toolbar are controls that let you apply filters to the object (which may often be a structure). The controls are described in the following table.
Control
3. You can further modify the collected set of objects by selecting objects and using toolbar controls as explained in the following table.
Control Icon
Action
Add any related drawings for the selected objects
Remove selected objects from the table
Include selected (excluded) objects
Exclude selected objects from action. (Indicated by strike-through
4. Select an object and click the reuse icon to specify not to overwrite a file with the same file name in the target directory. Rather, the system should reuse the file content in the target directory.
5. Optionally, click the reset icon to reset the table to its initial collection of objects.
6. You can select the Basic tab at any time; however, you lose additional objects collected on the Advanced tab.
7. Click Finish to commit the export of the collected objects.
The exported objects are populated in the target folder.
