Business Administrative Change Promotion
Windchill business administrative change promotion provides a way to move administrative changes made in a pre-production Windchill installation to a production Windchill system. For example, a policy access control rule can be created in a test system to ensure that the policy rule functions as intended. After testing is complete, the change can be moved to the production Windchill system using the business administrative change promotion command-line utility.
Transferring changes from development or test systems to your production system is a critical element in a successful Windchill deployment. Business administrative change promotion is one piece of the system configuration management process. This process consists of a set of activities that are performed to reliably manage changes to a deployed Windchill solution.
The business administrative change promotion command-line utility and the Business Administrative Change UI utility can be used to gather and export administrative objects that have changed since a specified baseline or within a date range. The exported files can then be imported into a development, test, or production system. Objects that are new are created in the target system and those that have changed are updated accordingly. The imported objects are not locked on the target system and can be managed as though they originated in that system.
You can determine whether to use the command-line utility or the UI utility depending on your use case. For example, the command-line utility supports the synchronized, selective, and development modes of export, whereas, the UI utility supports only the selective mode. For more information on different use cases supported in both the utilities, see
