A package is the basic form of the package object type that is not associated with an industry-standard use. Use this type if you want to create a package to provide information and a more specific type of package is not required.

A technical data package is used to provide technical product information. This type of package is commonly sent to suppliers, manufacturers, or customers.

Both packages and technical data packages can be sent in the export-only format or in a format that can be imported into another Windchill installation. Objects are added to the package using the Initially Selected Objects table and collection rules.
