Working with Control Characteristics in BOM Transformer
You can perform the following operations in the control characteristics tab of a BOM Transformer:
Add an existing or a new control characteristic
Copy, paste, remove a control characteristic
Search a control characteristic
Update a model annotation
Customize the control characteristic table view
In order to support and publish Control Characteristics in Windchill MPMLink, an administrator is required perform certain configurations in Creo Parametric and Windchill. The details of this configuration are available in the following article on PTC.com: https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS275132
You can perform the above mentioned operations in upstream and downstream structures. However, to perform all these control characteristic related actions in the downstream structure of BOM Transformer, add the following properties to the mpmlink.properties.xconf file located at com\ptc\windchill\mpml\xconf.
com.ptc.windchill.mpml.copyOver.mapsb.newBranch.create.wt.part.WTPart
com.ptc.windchill.mpml.copyOver.mapsb.newPart.create.wt.part.WTPart
Set the property value to WCTYPE|wt.part.WTPart~MBA|buildTarget@WCTYPE|wt.epm.build.EPMBuildRule. For more information, see Using the xconfmanager Utility.
Control Characteristics Action in Visualization Tab
The following actions related with the control characteristics are available in the toolbar of the Visualization tab of BOM Transformer:
Select one or more model annotations in the visualization area, and click Select Applicable Parts to highlight the control characteristics and the applicable child parts of the parts that own the selected model annotations in the tree structure and visualization area. For more information on applicable parts, see Viewing Applicable Parts for Standard Control Characteristics.
Click Show All Model Annotations to display all the model annotations in the visualization area.
Click Hide All Model Annotations to hide all the model annotations in the visualization area.
Select a model annotation in the visualization area and click Hide selected to hide the model annotation in the visualization area.
Select a model annotation along with the parent part that owns it or the child parts or child part occurrences, and click Create Control Characteristic to create a new control characteristic. For more information, see Define Applicable Parts for Standard Control Characteristics.
Select a model annotation in the visualization area and a control characteristic in the tree structure. Click Link to Control Characteristic in the Update Control Characteristic menu to link the model annotation with the control characteristic.
Select the standard control characteristics in the tree structure and the child parts or child part occurrences in the visualization area. Select Add Applicable Parts in the Update Control Characteristic menu to apply the selected standard control characteristics on the selected child parts. For more information, see Define Applicable Parts for Standard Control Characteristics.
Select the standard control characteristics in the tree structure and the applicable child parts to be removed in the visualization area. Select Remove Applicable Parts in the Update Control Characteristic menu to remove the applicable child parts defined for standard control characteristics. For more information, see Remove Applicable Parts Defined for Standard Control Characteristics.
Some of the above actions are also available in the Visualization tab of the Process Plan Browser.
