Windchill License Groups
A license group represents a usage scenario and access control rules. Each license group has a license profile assigned to it. A license profile enables or restricts user access to Windchill features. Using license group simplifies license compliance tasks for the administrator at site level. To assign a license or licenses to a user, the administrator must add that user to a license group. Thus, the license or licenses assigned to a license group are automatically assigned to license group members. To deny access to a license, remove the user from the license groups to which those license profiles are assigned.
*
The Site Administrator has access to Windchill without requiring to be added to any license group or the license exclusion group. The Site Administrator should not be added to any license group as this can limit the administrative actions available to them. The unrestricted access does not extend to server registration of Creo or other Windchill WGMs.
Every license group member is assigned with an individual license profile. Ensure that you have adequate license count assigned to a license group before adding new members.
For example, Windchill has a license group named PTC View and Print Only license. This license group is a member of PTC View and Print Only license profile. To assign users with PTC View and Print Only license, the administrator adds those users to the PTC View and Print Only license group. To add 50 users to this group, the administrator must ensure that the PTC View and Print Only license profile count assigned to the license group is 50 or more. To deny a user access to PTC View and Print Only license, the administrator removes that user from the PTC View and Print Only license group.
*
A license group works like any other user-defined groups. To manage license compliance at lower levels of organization, the administrator can add a user-defined group to a license group
