Vault Migration to Azure Blob Storage

This section explains how to migrate an existing file-based vault to Azure Blob Storage. For information on how to set up Azure Blob Storage in Windchill, see the topic Configuring Windchill File Vaults to Use Azure Blobs. The following workflow illustrates how to migrate a single vault at a time. This process is applicable for all types of vaults that are Main, Replica, or Cache vault and for vaults at main as well as file server site.

This process works for a vault only if the Automatic folder creation flag is set to true.

1. Prepare system for migration

2. Copy content from source system

3. Validate the copied content

4. Update mounts

The process of migrating a vault is split into four top level steps as illustrated above. For ease of explaining the migration process, the following procedure is based on a sample scenario where defaultuploadrootfolder is the root folder name and has the mount path as:
