Managing Replacements in BOM Redline
A substitute part is defined to reduce the risk associated with supply, inventory, or quality issues related to the subject part on the BOM.
From the Replacements tab, you can modify, remove, or insert a substitute part, as you do in redline. For more information, see Redline Process and Replacements Tab.
The planned substitute part changes are merged into the next sequential revision along with the other planned BOM modifications. Likewise, when part revisions are released by Change Notices, any substitute part modifications associated with the released part are reflected in the open BOM redlines. The modifications to substitute parts are also synchronized when the latest released part revisions are modified. For more information on the synchronization and suspect status of substitute, see the Scenario 5: Non-conflicting and Conflicting Changes for Part Substitutes section of the Synchronization and Redline Suspect Status topic.
