Working with Windchill Workgroup Manager
The Windchill Workgroup Manager provides a set of product data management (PDM) actions which can be used to manage your CAD data in Windchill. These PDM actions are available from your CAD application and from Windchill.
You can access the various Windchill PDM actions from the PTC Windchill tab in your CAD application. You can create or open a document in your CAD application and perform the PDM actions on it.
Some of the more commonly used PDM actions are:
New— The native CAD application New command can be used to create new CAD Documents which can then be saved to Workspace.
New CAD Document—Allows you to use a Windchill utility to create new CAD Documents from templates stored in Windchill.
Save— The native CAD application Save command allows you to save new and changed CAD documents from your active CAD application session to the Windchill Workspace (files opened from the local file system will be saved back to the same location).
Save to Workspace—Allows you to save files opened from the local file system to your active Workspace.
Check In— Allows you to check in CAD documents from an active CAD application session to Windchill. You can either use Auto Check In or Custom Check In to check in your files to Windchill.
Open— Allows you to open files saved in the Workspace. You can also browse to the Windchill File System location on your computer and open files from the Commonspace.
Check Out— Allows you to reserve a CAD document from the Windchill Workspace
