About Part Document Filters
Part document filters have been introduced to allow users to define a filter that includes valid documents for a service structure. During publishing, the filters determine whether reference or describing documents, that have been linked to parts through parts list or through associated parts in a service structure, should be included in the published bundles sent to Arbortext Content Delivery.
Document filters use part related documents information to include valid documents, EPM documents or their subtypes based on the choice of document filter.
The following table lists the categories of document filters and their respective properties:
Documents
Properties
Describing Document
describingDocumentFilterEnabled
Reference Document
referenceDocumentFilterEnabled
These document filters are disabled by default. To enable the describing and reference document filters, add these properties in the wt.properties file and set its value to true. Based on the property and the set value, the filter options are displayed under the Edit Filter and Current Filter in Filter action set in Windchill Service Information Manager.
*
The saved document filters apply only when you publish a service structure from the Structure tab of a service structure using Publish Representation action or Publish Representation in the context menu. To be able to publish a service structure from a Representations/Annotations table, set the publishing rules to apply the saved document filters. For more information, see Service Publishing Rules.
To associate part related configurable describe documents, see Associating Configurable Describe Documents to a Part. To set a Configurable Document filter for associated configurable describe documents, add configurableDocumentFilterEnabled to wt.properties file and set to true.
*
You can associate only configurable describe documents to a part. Association of other part related configurable documents will be available in a future release.
The saved filters are displayed in the dropdown list of related describing and reference documents respectively under the Part Documents Saved Filters tab.
Click on a document filter in the dropdown list to open the respective edit document filter window.
In the edit document filter window, select any of the following under the Attribute Filter tab:
Type — Displays related document, dynamic document and their subtypes.
Criteria — Displays attribute filtering expressions for selected document, dynamic document and their subtypes.
When you have made your choice, click OK to apply the filter.
Your choice of document is displayed in the table under Attribute Filter tab and stored for future reference. A new session for the same document attribute filter shows the previous selection in place as well as the current selection. Click Remove to remove one or multiple objects from the table. For more information, see About Attribute Filters.
In the edit filter window select any of the following under the Type Filter tab:
Include all— Includes all related part documents in relation to the applied filter.
Include only selected— Includes only selected part documents in relation to the applied filter. Click Find to select one or more documents of your choice.
Exclude only selected— Excludes selected part documents in relation to the applied filter. Click Find to select one or more documents of your choice.
When you have made your choice, click OK to apply the filter.
Your choice of document is displayed in the table under Type Filter tab and stored for future reference. A new session for the same document type filter shows the previous selection in place as well as the current selection. Click Remove to remove one or multiple objects from the table.
To save a filter, click on the respective document filter under the Part Documents Saved Filters tab. Once a filter is saved, it becomes the current filter for that service structure.
You can view the Part Related Documents report to view the type of document that is associated to parts in a service structure. For more information, see About Part Related Documents Report.
