Editing an Organization
To edit an organization, use the following procedure:
1. From the right-click actions menu of the organization to be modified, select Edit Organization. You may need to add the organization to the Participant Administration table.
The Edit Organization window opens. This window displays the same fields that are on the New Organization window. The Distinguished Name displayed in the Edit Organization window can not be edited. Editable fields in this window are defined in the following table:
Field
Description
Name
Specifies the name of the organization. The name you enter must be unique within scope of the directory server you select.
Organization name cannot contain the following characters: #, /, >, \, and <.
The organization name identifies the participants who are members of the organization. Participants whose directory entries conform to both of the following requirements automatically become members of the organization:
Participants with directory entries in the directory servers that are available in Windchill.
Directory services are established by setting up JNDI adapter entries through the Info*Engine Property Administrator and adding the adapter entries to the wt.federation.org.directoryServices property value. For additional information, see the LDAP installation settings information.
Participants belonging to the organization have the organization name specified in the Name field as their organization attribute in their directory entries. The default user organization attribute is "o".
Organization ID
Specifies the globally unique organization identifier under which the organization is registered. If the organization is not registered, do not enter a value in this field. Both an organization identifier type and an organization identifier must be specified or both fields must be blank for the organization to be created successfully.
Select the organization identifier type from the drop-down list. By default, the drop-down list contains CAGE Code, DUNS Number, and ISO 6523. If the drop-down list does not contain the type required for your company organization, modify the list by editing the wt.org.organizationTypes property that is located in the wt.properties file. You can use the System Configurator to edit the property.
Enter a value in the text field to specify the organization identifier. Windchill combines the organization type and ID and stores the resulting value in the organizationIdentifier attribute of the organization directory entry.
*
By setting a property, your site can choose to use the Organization ID to allow participants to specify that parts and documents are owned by an organization other than the hosting organization. For additional information about using the Organization ID, see Creating and Updating Owning Organization Participants.

Click Find to open a window and find the domain you want to select.
If you do not enter a domain in this field, Windchill determines which domain to set according to the domain algorithm that is in place. For information about domains, see About Domain Administration.
Internet Domain
If the organization has a registered internet domain name, enter this name in the Internet Domain field. The internet domain name identifies the web address of the organization
Internet domain names can consist of alphanumeric characters and the hyphen (-) symbol. Do not include other characters such as the underscore (_).
Business Classification
To help group organizations, your company can establish a set of business classifications that can then be used in this field. For example, a company could classify organizations by division or location.
If your company does not have a set of business classifications, you can leave this field blank.
2. Edit the fields and click OK.
*
If you edit the existing value in the Organization Name field, you are renaming the organization. See Renaming an Organization.
