Export Life Cycle Templates
The following rules apply when exporting life cycle templates:
• Exporting a life cycle template creates objects in XML file format. The XML file is saved in a JAR or ZIP file.
• There is no limit to the number of life cycles that you can export at once. You can select one or more templates before initiating the Export action.
• Do not export data from one version of Windchill and import it into a different version. Instead, migrate the data in your database and then export the templates.
• An exported life cycle template contains references to related objects, such as participants and roles. However, the underlying objects themselves are not exported. As a result, when you import the life cycle template, the underlying objects must exist in the target database or the import fails. This can occur especially when importing the template into a different system.
For information on export properties, see
Windchill Export Properties.
