Revaulting optimizes system performance and minimize excessive BLOB and disk space consumption by scheduling periodic system checks. Revaulting is managed by the file synchronization process. For more information about file synchronization, see About External File Vaults.

During revaulting, all vaulting rules are evaluated to verify that all files are in their correct location. Any files that are not in their correct location are relocated to the appropriate place.

For example, files that are supposed to be stored in an external file vault but currently reside in a database BLOB are moved back to their respective vault. All files that should be stored in the BLOB but reside in external storage are copied back to the BLOB. The remaining files become unreferenced files.

It is recommended that you perform revaulting at regular intervals.

You should also check completion times to verify that each revaulting run completes before the next revaulting run is executed. Reviewing the Revaulting History to ensure that schedule intervals do not overlap. Although the revaulting system is robust enough to process overlapping intervals correctly, server side resources may be used unnecessarily if the intervals overlap.
