Object Numbers Case-Sensitivity
Windchill solutions and SAP share the following case-sensitivity characteristics:
• Both store all object numbers using only uppercase characters.
• If a user enters an object number using lowercase characters in either the Windchill solution or SAP, the object number will be converted to uppercase characters in the database﹒
In addition, all object numbers sent from Windchill PDMLink only contain uppercase letters.
Windchill Example of Case-Sensitivity
Windchill does not allow a user to create two parts with the same string of characters that have different cases. For example, a user cannot create part 123a and part 123A in the database. This results in an error that the part number is not unique.
SAP Example of Case-Sensitivity
If a user creates BomA, then attempts to change BomA, the user receives an error because the BOM exists as BOMA in the SAP database.
