About Charting
Charts provide a means for graphically presenting the data in a table within Windchill. This eliminates the need to export data to a spreadsheet application to create a chart.
Once created, charts display above the table on which they are based. Charts can be collapsed and expanded, modified, or closed. Multiple charts can be created and saved for a single table. Individual charts can be printed.
For most types of charts, clicking on a sprite (bar, pie piece, etc.) in the chart constrains the table so that only rows with data matching the sprite are selected and displayed (automatically selects the represented rows in the table, and selects the
View Selected Objects Only table display option). To clear values selected by clicking on a sprite, clear the
View Selected Objects Only checkbox under the
Table display options menu in the table toolbar.
Charts can be saved for the table on which they are based, making those specific chart settings available the next time a chart is added to the table.
Initially, charting is available from the Results Table of the Report Builder. As you update the criteria and regenerate the report within the same session, the charts automatically update to reflect the new report results.
Once a report is closed, if the charts are not saved, the charts are discarded and must be re-created, as desired, the next time the report is run.
| If a chart has a large number of display values, or uses a large font, some labels might be truncated, or some chart items (such as bars, slices, and points) might not appear. To address this, use one or more of the following options: • change the chart type • reduce the number of values specified in the Display field • reduce the size selected in the Font Size field |
