Setting New Names During Save As
The Save As Options window is invoked by clicking Set New Name on the Save As page. It enables you to set conventions for naming and numbering new copies of objects, subject to the Object Initialization Rules (OIRs) and preference settings that govern the assignment of attributes to new objects.

You can specify that the file extension be dropped from system-generated CAD document names and numbers by setting the values of the following Windchill preferences to Yes. The default in No (file extensions are included).
