Modifying a Configuration Context
You modify a configuration context using the Structure and Details tabs of the Configuration Context information page. A configuration context is refined by including or excluding existing parts to suit a specific design task. This is accomplished by modifying the part filter criteria.
You can also modify a configuration context by adding a new child part in the structure and refreshing the context.
*
Filter criteria is saved with the configuration context. Therefore, the configuration context must be checked out to modify the filter criteria. The check out operation is performed automatically if not done previously and the configuration context remains checked out when filtering is complete.
To modify a configuration context:
1. Navigate to the configuration context information page and click on the Details tab.
The geometry for all the parts currently included in the configuration context is displayed in the thumbnail.
2. Examine the geometry closely to determine if there are parts that need to be included or excluded relative to your design task. If you find that part changes are required, perform one or both of the following tasks to refine the configuration context.
a. Click on the Structure tab and select parts in the configuration tree that you want to include (check) or exclude (uncheck). Click the Check In icon in the tool bar and select OK to modify the configuration.
The configuration part tree as well as the geometry in the Details tab thumbnail refresh and show the part changes.
b. Click the Current Filter icon in the Structure tab tool bar.
The criteria for the current part filter is displayed. Using this information, do the following:
a. Click the Edit Filter icon in the Structure tab tool bar.
The Edit Filter window opens.
b. Modify the filter type and/or settings to include/exclude parts or part occurrences to refine the configuration for your design task, then click OK. Click the Check In icon in the tool bar and select OK to modify the configuration.
The configuration part tree as well as the geometry in the Details tab thumbnail refresh and show the part changes.
For more information about filtering, see The Filter Action Set.
c. From the Structure tab of the top-level part information page, add a new child part to the structure and do the following:
a. Click the Check In icon in the tool bar and select OK to iterate the top-level part, then navigate to the configuration context.
The configuration context is updated and the new child part is displayed in the structure (assuming that it is not being filtered out).
