Setting Up Build Rules and Preferences
As the build is no longer performed as soon as you specify the associations between CAD documents and Windchill parts, you may find yourself setting up the associations that determine the build rules earlier in your design process. Before doing so, consider the following.
• You can still automatically associate parts to CAD documents upon every checkin by setting theWindchill preference: > >
• You can also prevent a specific CAD document from being auto-associated by setting the Windchill preference: > >
• The New CAD Document window enables you to auto-associate upon creation of a CAD document.
• The following association actions are available in the workspace page.
◦ Edit Association—Enables you to manually associate CAD documents and Windchill parts.
◦ Auto Associate—Enables you to automatically associate CAD documents and Windchill parts outside of the Check In action.
• The Windchill preference: > > enables you to automatically update a Windchill part after the checkin of its associated CAD document.
The default value is All which specifies that all the CAD documents being checked in, build or update their associated parts upon check in. Alternatively, the preference can be set to None which specifies that none of the CAD documents being checked in, build or update their associated parts upon check in. This scenario assumes that the part structure will be updated at a later date.
