Getting Started with Windchill Supplier Management
The following procedure outlines the basic steps for setting up and configuring Windchill Supplier Management. You can configure manufacturer and vendor objects and set up the required permissions to reflect with the specific business policies of your organization. Therefore, the approach you take may differ slightly from the following procedure.
To set up and configure Windchill Supplier Management:
1. The Organization Administrator adds a Sourcing Administrator to the organization.
2. The Site Administrator enables the Sourcing Administrator to create supplier organizations (see Enabling the Sourcing Administrator to Create Organizations). If the Sourcing Administrator is not authorized to create supplier organizations, the Site Administrator must create supplier organizations.
3. (Optional) The Site Administrator creates subtypes for the object types used in Windchill Supplier Management:
The Site Administrator creates global attributes that describe manufacturer or vendor types.
The Site Administrator creates global attributes that describe sourcing contexts.
The Organization Administrator creates additional subtypes for the manufacturer and vendor types, and for sourcing contexts.
*
While creating subtypes, you can also add attributes that uniquely describe the subtype.
4. (Optional) The Site Administrator sets access to the subtypes for groups or users.
5. The Sourcing Administrator adds manufacturers and vendors to the supplier list by referencing existing supplier organizations or by creating new organizations on-the-fly (if authorized). Alternatively, the Site Administrator can load manufacturers and vendors.
6. The Sourcing Administrator creates sourcing contexts.
7. The Sourcing Administrator creates and applies sourcing rules.
8. The Site Administrator loads manufacturer and vendor parts in Windchill PDMLink. Alternatively, manufacturer and vendor parts can be imported using the Import from Spreadsheet action.
9. The Sourcing Administrator or any user (who is a member of the product or library) with Modify permission on the OEM part can now create AMLs/AVLs.
