Assumptions and Restrictions
Consider the following assumptions and restrictions:
Autodesk Inventor does not allow any parameters or properties to be modified on the instances directly. Instances of the Standard iPart can only be modified through the iPart table.
In Autodesk Inventor new instances do not automatically inherit parameters from the generic. Therefore, you must add them to the table for each instance yourself. If a parameter is not included in the table, it is not passed on to the instance.
Custom iParts are supported as standalone models (with a reference link to their factory model) rather than a family of objects. This is because Autodesk Inventor allows certain parameters and properties in the Custom iPart to vary from the factory’s spreadsheet and, therefore, they can differ from their definition in the family.
When you modify an iPart model in Autodesk Inventor, Windchill may consider all members (represented by instance CAD documents in Windchill) modified.
Part files for Standard iPart members are placed in a subdirectory of the WFS workspace.
When you add a family table instance part in an assembly, its’ iProperties can be accessed by selecting that instance part and performing right mouse button action iProperties on the instance part.
Custom properties can also be added to the instance part. These properties added to the instance part are not managed in Windchill.

The upload service Naming parameter and Numbering parameter functionality cannot be utilized by iPart instances. Only the generic can be utilized.
