For more information on how to configure change object in an external system OSLC server, see Configuring the Windchill Digital Product Traceability (DPT) Extension in ThingWorx.
The External Associated Change References preference under the Change Management category controls the addition of external objects to the Associated Reference Objects table. Set the preference to Yes to create an association of external change objects as reference objects. This configuration enables the association of external change objects as a reference objects feature. Set the preference to No to disable the association of external change objects as reference objects. The default value is No.
The following considerations apply when using external change objects:
You can create a specific view for external change objects. The external change object types and Remote Data Status column attribute are available in the Edit View window if the wt.change.remoteChangeObjects.enabled property is set to true.
Change objects that exist in a product or library context can reference external change objects. Problem reports or variances that exist in the project context can also reference external change objects The eligible change object types that can be referenced will be defined by the Associated Reference rules.
In a package, external change objects are displayed in the Preview Collection table only. The external objects in a package cannot be imported or exported.
For the Reference Table, you can add all change objects like Change Request, Problem Report, Change Notice, Variance for mappings. These four objects are supported for the information and create and edit pages.
You can obtain the Name, Number, Identity, State, and Priority attributes from an external system OSLC server. All these attributes can be previewed.
To add the external change objects, go to any Change Request, Problem Report, Change Notice, Variance and follow these steps:
1. Go to Select Associations tab and click the Add External Change Management Objects action on the Associated Reference Objects table
2. Select the appropriate Server, Resource, Type, and then select the Context. You can search for one or more external change objects to be added as a reference.

You can view that the attributes from the external system are added to the Associated Reference Objects table. Hover the pointer to preview the external change objects details for the Name, Number, Identity, and State fields.

You can also view all the four attributes on the edit page and information page of the change objects, such as Change Request, Problem Report, Change Notice, and Variance.
You can maintain visibility and traceability of the external change management objects throughout the entire Change Management process.
