Customizing Auto Associate
This section contains information about customizing Auto Associate behavior. As a Windchill administrator, you can customize the Auto Associate action in various ways to suit specific business needs. For example, you can:
• set server-side preferences to automatically find matching Windchill parts using the CAD document base number.
• modify the implementation of the AutoAssociatePartFinderCreator interface.
• modify the implementation to search for customized parts or custom parts.
• customize the type of CAD documents that can be actively associated.
• prevent the creation of parts by an Auto Associate action.
• control the default location of parts created by an Auto Associate action.

• Auto Associate customization is applicable to Creo Parametric, Creo Elements/Direct, as well as every Windchill Workgroup Manager that integrates a 3rd party CAD tool with Windchill.
• You can list the server-side preferences that can be set to control Auto Associate behavior by:
a. Logging into Windchill as an administrator.
b. Selecting > > > in the Navigator, within an Organization context.
