Exporting a Package
In the context of the Creo Packages integration, design partners exchange data across multiple PTC PLM systems by using a package. A package consists of a Creo Packages file containing Creo Parametric data and associated metadata. It is exported from the source system and can be imported to one or more target systems. In addition to a complete package, incremental or synchronization packages can be created:
Complete package—Uses the WPCExport command and consists of Creo Parametric data and associated metadata from the source system.
Incremental package—Uses the WPCExport command to include only the changes in an object from the previous source PLM system package export operation.
*
An incremental package can only be created by the command line utility with a recipe file. An incremental package cannot be created without using a recipe file. For additional information, see Exporting Packages Using the Recipe Language.
Synchronization package—Uses the WPCExport_synch command to include only the metadata of objects whose properties are changed after exporting them to a target system. The purpose of a synchronization package is to synchronize information about previously exported data in target systems with the source system. An example of a change that a synchronization package would address is the rename of a previously exported Creo Parametric file. A synchronization package ensures that if a previously exported file is renamed, the file name is updated in the target system.

A synchronization package can only be created by the command line utility with a recipe file. A synchronization package cannot be created without using a recipe file. For additional information, see Exporting Packages Using the Recipe Language.
