Impacted By Tab of Service Structures
When a part is updated in an eBOM or sBOM, a Windchill Service Information Manager user should be able to assess the impact of the change to the related service objects. This is achieved by setting associations between parts and its service data. The Impacted By tab under the Structure tab for a service structure provides the ability to view attributes of all the parts or subtypes of parts that are associated with a selected object in a service structure. You can add or remove association between the root of service structure, group, section or dynamic document and its related parts. When you add associations to a service object, a new iteration of service structure is created.
This association represents service data that would be impacted if the part were to be updated.
|
If an associated part undergoes a change through a change request process, you can collect information about the related service objects to understand the change impact from the change management user interface. For more information, see Collecting Objects Associated with Structures
|
The table under the Impacted By tab is populated based on user selection in a service structure. A user can select the root of an Information Structure or Publication Structure, group, section, or dynamic document.
For example, in case of an information structure root, the table displays all the associated parts of the information structure. For a group or section, the table displays related parts for that group or section.

Add Association
|
Use this option to search and add parts and part subtypes to a selected object in a service structure. When the identified parts and part subtypes are associated with the selected object, the table is updated to display the newly associated parts or part subtypes. For more information, see Managing Part Associations in Impacted By Tab.

The add association icon is enabled only when a user has modify rights. |

Remove Association
|
Use this option to remove the association of one or multiple selected parts or part subtypes from an object in a service structure.
When the association is removed, the table is updated to display the remaining associated parts or part subtypes.
|
This action is supported for single object only. You cannot remove associations from multiple objects at a time. The remove action is disabled for parts lists, index and table of contents.

|
You can set a column in ascending or descending order by using the sorting arrows. You can also view the information page of a part by choosing View Information icon

The following attributes appear by default when the table is displayed:
• Name— Displays the name of the part or part subtype associated with a selected object.
• Number — Displays the number assigned to the part or part subtype associated with a selected object.

• State — Displays the Life Cycle state of the part or part subtype associated with a selected object.
• Last Impact Change — Displays the most recent time and date stamp when the associated part or part subtype of the selected object was updated.
The table is updated every time an association is added or removed.
