About the Windchill Integration for Defect-Tracking Systems
The defect-tracking systems that can be integrated and have associated defects created in Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software are Integrity, Bugzilla and Atlassian JIRA. You can also exchange defect-related information between Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software and these defect-tracking systems.
|
The defects residing in defect-tracking systems are called remote defects. Defects and remote defects are described in the sections that follow.

Your organization can effectively manage and triage defects in Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software. Consider an example where a programmable device within a product has to be replaced. For this change, a number of activities must occur:
• An electrical engineer must update the printed circuit board (PCB) design.
• A software engineer must update the software code being delivered to the programmable device.
Software code changes are typically managed and tracked as defects in the system. Using the Integrity Defects, Bugzilla or Atlassian JIRA adapters integrated with Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software, the following tasks can be accomplished:
• A product manager overseeing the entire product or the project release can easily create and link defects in Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software with the defects in a defect-tracking system.
• The manager can also get an up-to-date status of the software and hardware changes that determine the overall design and delivery of the product.
A Windchill Site or Organization administrator must install and configure the Integrity Defects, Bugzilla or Atlassian JIRA adapters. An administrator can configure and add more than one instance for these adapters depending on the requirement.
Windchill users can browse, select, and change existing context associations that Site and Organization administrators have set up for Integrity Defects, Bugzilla and Atlassian JIRA adapters.
