Displaying BOM Differences in Associative Structure Browsers
Within Associative Part Structure browsers, you use the Compare Structures pane to display differences between upstream parts and downstream parts.
To display BOM differences:
1. On the middle pane tool bar, click .
The Propagate Upstream Changes pane opens to the right of the browser.
2. Click on the side bar to open the Compare Structures pane.
3. Select a BOM in the structure pane.
4. Open the context menu of the object, and click the Select Equivalent Parts on Other Side icon.
The equivalent BOM is then automatically selected in the other displayed structure pane.
*
Reconciliation Search is allowed even when selecting a part that is not equivalent to the currently selected part. You can also select multiple nodes on both upstream and downstream trees. When the structures are displayed in occurrence mode (Show Occurrences is toggled on), then equivalent occurrence links are used to identify discrepancies.
5. Enter your search criteria to determine which discrepancies are highlighted. For example, selecting Quantity highlights all the usage of the parts on the side (upstream/downstream) where the quantity is greater than the other side.
6. Refine your search options by selecting or clearing the following options:
Skip intermediate sub-assemblies
When selected, any sub-assemblies that are found discrepant in the BOM are not highlighted, unless all its children are found discrepant.
Skip downstream parts with no upstream equivalents
When selected, downstream parts that have no upstream equivalents are not highlighted as discrepancies.
Skip children of sub-assemblies reused from upstream
When selected, if a sub-assembly is reused from the upstream structure, its children are not considered when searching for discrepancies.
Skip children of completely discrepant sub-assemblies
When selected, only the parent assembly is highlighted if all children are discrepant.
7. Click Search.
If there are discrepancies between the BOMs, then a note appears in the Notifications panel and the discrepant parts are listed in the Search Results table below the notifications. The following actions are available from the Search Results table toolbar.

Action
Description
Clear all
Deselects all of the selected entries.
Select all
Selects all of the entries listed in the search results
Invert selection
Deselects all of the selected entries, and selects the entries that are not selected.
Select in structure
The selected parts in the Search Results table are selected and highlighted in the upstream or downstream structure. For quantity discrepancy criteria, the discrepant object is selected in the structure wherever the quantity is greater. For other criteria, the discrepant objects are selected in both the upstream and downstream structure.
*
Use the Clear All Highlighted Rows icon in the viewing menu to remove highlighting from the selected parts. You can also remove all highlights by clicking Reconciliation Assistance again.
Search
Narrow the results by searching the search results table.
The Highlight All Discrepancy Search Results In Structure preference is set to No by default. When set to Yes, all discrepancies are selected in the Search Results table, and therefore simultaneously highlighted in the corresponding structure pane.
