Introduction to Interference Detection
Interference Detection and Analysis is a crucial part of the Mechanical design life-cycle for any assembly that enables you to detect which components in an assembly overlap, touch, or are too close to each other and to analyze the results.
There are three types of clashes:
Interference (Hard)—Parts physically interfere by penetration and volume.
Contact (Touch)—Parts are in contact but do not interfere.
Clearance (Soft)—Components with a given distance requirement.
Interference Detection Process
1. Create an Interference Detection Definition (IDD)—–Defines the source data set and the Interference Detection Options to be performed.
2. Save, schedule or submit the Interference Detection Definition—The Interference Query is an XML (*.PVC) file saved as primary content. Submission sends the Interference Query for processing via the Worker Agent using a CLASH Worker.
3. Monitor the Interference Detection Job progress via the Job Monitor.
4. View the Interference Detection Report in Windchill. Analyze each Interference related to the report. Update status or assign to another user for analysis
5. Users analyze assigned interferences from Home Page.
