Implementing Windchill ESI Services Using the ESITargetAssignmentLink.xml File
The ESITargetAssignmentLink.xml file may be used to bulk-create the associations between Windchill business objects (such as parts) and Windchill ESI targets.
Windchill ESI targets can be assigned to parts using the Windchill ESI interface. However, when working with large numbers of targets and parts a more convenient approach would be to specify part numbers and target systems in ESITargetAssignmentLink.xml and then run the Windchill loader to create the associations. The following are instructions on how to use this feature.
Perform the following steps:
1. Modify the contents of the file ESITargetAssignmentLink.xml that exists under \Windchill\loadFiles\esi\esiCust\.
2. Execute the following:
windchill wt.load.LoadFromFile
-d <Windchill>\loadFiles\esi\ESITargetAssignmentLink.xml -CONT_PATH <containerRef for the relevant parts>
For example:
windchill wt.load.LoadFromFile
-d Z:\Windchill\loadFiles\esi\ESITargetAssignmentLink.xml -CONT_PATH
/wt.inf.container.OrgContainer=org1/wt.pdmlink.PDMLinkProduct=org1_pro1

You must modify the load files with your own valid data before running LoadFromFile. To load ESITargetAssignmentLink.xml, you must have parts and Windchill ESI targets loaded already. Also, the above described procedure is applicable even for other business objects such as documents, process plans and manufacturing resources such as process materials, tooling and skills.
