Distributed Installation - Three Machines
In a three machine distributed installation scenario, the host components are installed on one machine, the gateway server on a second machine, and your Windchill solution on a third machine. The PSI is run three times, in the following order:
1. Install the Windchill Business Reporting Host Components
2. Install the Gateway Server
3. Install Your Windchill Solution
Install the Windchill Business Reporting Host Components
From the list of solutions to install, select the Standalone Product or Component checkbox.
Select from the following standalone product or component options:

If you leave both the Oracle Configuration and SQL Server Configuration deselected, it is assumed that a database and associated user already exist, and that you will supply that information in the database information screen.

Select this option if you are configuring an Oracle database as part of this installation scenario. Under this option, select the following as appropriate:
Create Database - selected by default.

When creating an Oracle database using PSI, you can launch PSI as the user that installed the database software, or as root user.
Create Windchill Database User Account - selected by default.
Create Windchill Business Reporting Database User Account - deselected by default. Select this checkbox to create a new database user. To use an existing database user, leave deselected.
SQL Server Configuration

Select this option if you are configuring a SQL Server database as part of this installation scenario. Under this option, select the following as appropriate:

Create Windchill Business Reporting Database and User - deselected by default. Select this checkbox to create a new database and user. To use an existing database and user, leave deselected.
Windchill Business Reporting
Deselected
Select this option to install the Windchill Business Reporting components. Under this option, select as follows:
Install the Host Components - Select this option to install the host. Select from the following as appropriate for your installation, you must select one:
Configure SQL Server Database
Install the Gateway Server - Deselect this option.
Enter the following installation directory information:

Installation Directory for PTC Windchill Business Reporting should be empty else Cognos installation fails.
Enter the following database information. If you selected the Create Windchill Business Reporting Database User Account or Create Windchill Business Reporting Database and User checkbox previously on the standalone product or component options screen, then the values entered in these fields are used to create the user. Otherwise, enter the values for an existing database user.

Confirm the password entered in the previous field. This field appears only if the Create Windchill Business Reporting Database User Account or Create Windchill Business Reporting Database and User option was selected previously from the optional products screen.
Specify the appropriate LDAP settings for your configuration. For more information, see Entering Your LDAP Settings.

Install the Gateway Server
From the list of solutions to install, select the Standalone Product or Component checkbox.
Select from the following standalone product or component options:

Install the Host Components - Deselect this option.
Install the Gateway Server - Select this option to install the gateway server. The Configure Local PTC HTTP Server for Gateway check box must also be left selected (the default) for a local HTTP Server to be automatically configured by the PSI.
Enter the following installation directory information:

The drive mapped to the host installation. You must share the host installation location on the host machine with read/write permissions for the machine where the Windchill solution is installed. Install Your Windchill Solution
Install your Windchill solution, being sure to make the following Windchill Business Reporting related selections.
On the optional products screen, DO NOT select Windchill Business Reporting.
On the product selections summary screen, set the following product features:
