Creating a Configuration Item
Configuration items are created the same way that upper and lower-level parts are created, using the Insert New and Insert Existing actions available from the Structure tab on a part information page.
Configuration items can only be created as children of upper-level parts with types that allow a child of Configuration Item type. This is usually the lowest level part of the upper-level product structure. Your administrator defines the allowable parent-child relationship of the parts in the product structure.
Adding a Design Solution to a Configuration Item
You can add design solutions to existing configuration items using the following procedure:
1. From information page of the configuration item, select the Related Objects tab.
2. From the
Design Solutions table, click the add icon
to locate a design solution that already exists. Otherwise, click the create icon
to add a new design solution.
