Creating New Manufacturer and Vendor Parts
Typically, manufacturer and vendor parts are loaded in Windchill PDMLink using a bulk process. However, you can add new manufacturer or vendor parts that do not yet exist in Windchill.
You can create new manufacturer and vendor parts using the following methods:
• Use the Create new part action
from the
Folder Contents table.
• Create multiple parts with > > from the Folder Contents table.
• Use the Create and add new part to list action from the AML/AVL table. This method also associates the created part with appropriate OEM parts.
Creating a Manufacturer or Vendor Part from the Folder Contents Table
1. Go to the product’s
Folder Contents page and click the new part icon
.
The New Part window opens.
2. Specify the part type by selecting Manufacturer Part or Vendor Part from the Type list.
| After the part is created, you cannot change its type. |
3. Specify the owning organization or search for the supplier organization.
4. Specify the required attributes for the part.
5. Optional: Classify the manufacturer or vendor parts if Windchill PartsLink is installed.
6. Click Finish.
The manufacturer or vendor part is created. It can now be added to the AML/AVL.
Creating a Manufacturer or Vendor Part from the AML/AVL Table
1. Go to the
AML/AVL table and click the new part icon
.
The New Part window opens.
2. Specify the part type by selecting Manufacturer Part or Vendor Part from the Type list.

3. Specify the owning organization or search for the supplier organization.
4. Specify the required attributes for the part.
5. Optional: Classify the manufacturer or vendor parts if Windchill PartsLink is installed.
6. Specify a value for Sourcing Status and values for attributes on the sourcing relationship in the Sourcing Status field.
7. Click Finish.
The manufacturer or vendor part is created and added to the AML/AVL.
