Phantom Manufacturing Parts
Phantom manufacturing parts are those parts or assemblies in an mBOM which cannot be allocated to process plan operations. From a business perspective, these parts and assemblies are typically items that are non-stockable, but which can be published to ERP or MRP systems.
A phantom manufacturing part can have child parts which are not defined as phantom manufacturing parts. Non-phantom manufacturing parts that appear under the phantom manufacturing part are allocated to the process plan that is related to the first parent non-phantom manufacturing assembly.
In this scenario:
Phantom Manufacturing Part A cannot be allocated to any process plan operations.
Manufacturing Parts 002 and 003 can be allocated to the operations of the process plan related to manufacturing Assy1.
You can set phantom attribute to a part as well as to an extended data object. However, the attribute value set for the extended data object overrides the phantom behavior of the related part. For example, when a part is set as non-phantom but the related extended data object is set as phantom, the part is automatically designated as a phantom part and vice-versa. Also, if a part is associated with multiple extended data objects and one of those objects is set as phantom, the related part also overrides the phantom behavior. If the phantom attribute is not set for the extended data object, the attribute value set for the part determines its phantom behavior. This provides the flexibility to manage a part as a phantom part in one plant and as a regular part in another plant.
