Assessing License Usage
Before upgrading, PTC recommends you use Windchill Usage Assessment tool to address any inadvertent license usage. This ensures that your Windchill instance is properly licensed and is in compliance. The following flowchart provides the steps that need to be followed to assess the license usage.

Windchill is configured to automatically transmit license usage data to PTC for license compliance purposes. License usage data does not include personal information.
If Windchill Performance Advisor is enabled on the source system that is being upgraded, data in addition to license compliance will be transmitted after the upgrade is complete.

The Site Administrator has access to Windchill without requiring to be added to any license group or the license exclusion group. The Site Administrator should not be added to any license group as this can limit the administrative actions available to them. The unrestricted access does not extend to server registration of Creo or other Windchill WGMs.
