Export the Source Database and Backup of LDAP Structure
*
Export the Secret key before exporting the source database and LDAP structure, if applicable. Refer to the section Exporting the Secret Key for more details.
Export the source database and LDAP structure at the same time to ensure data consistency. Windchill server must be down. While Upgrade, the system should point to the source LDAP. As per best practices, it is recommended to take backup of source LDAP structure and the data in case any user requires to verify the LDAP configurations in future.
The following steps explain how to back up your source LDAP directory data using the control panel.
1. Start the control panel.
2. Select Directory Data > Backup....
The Run Backup window opens.
This window allows you to specify the backup parameters. Use the default parameters for a full backup that starts immediately. Click Change… to select a delayed start time or schedule a backup task to run on a periodical schedule.
A best practice is that each site define a formal backup procedure on how often to create backups, types of backups to create (full or incremental), and where to store them.
3. Click OK.
4. The Run Backup window opens and displays the success or failure of the operation. To display additional information such as the command line used, click Details. You can resize your window to see all the information.
5. Click Close.
Export the database using one of the following procedures, based on your platform:
Exporting the Oracle Source Database Using Data Pump
Backing up the SQL Server Source Database
Exporting the Azure SQL Server Source Database
After exporting the database, export the LDAP structure: Exporting Source LDAP Structure from Windchill Directory Server.
