Setting Your Preferred File Server Site
Companies that have set up Windchill file servers in their environment and have replicated content to one or more of them use multiple sites for this purpose. If one of these replicated sites is most convenient for you to use, you can set a preferred file server site to be used to access the replicated content and to enable uploading of the content to the file server.
*
If the specified site does not hold the content, the content is downloaded from the master site. For uploads, if your preferred site is a replica site, the content is uploaded (cached) to that site. Otherwise, the content is uploaded to the master site, and, depending on the settings, is saved in a database or a cache vault.
To set a preferred file server site for downloads or as a destination of uploads, use the following procedure:
1. Navigate to Quick Links > My Settings > Preferences.
2. Find the Preferred File Server preference, which is located in the Vaulting and Replication category.
Click the set preference icon .
3. Select a site name from the Value drop-down list, and click OK.
*
If you click the Revert to Default button, the preferred site is set to Windchill Master Site.

Constraints imposed by security labels may cause a file upload to select a Windchill file server other than your preferred one, or may even cause a file upload to fail. If a failure occurs due to security label constraints, contact your Windchill Business Administrator for assistance. For more details, refer to Selecting a Site Principal.
