Comparing Part Structure to Part Structure
The Compare to Part Structure action allows users to view and compare two similar assembly part structures to determine how they differ.
An assembly part structure can be filtered using a configuration specification so that successive versions are compared to reveal the changes made in a revision cycle.
For example, suppose that you are a manufacturing engineer assigned to determine the impact of a design change on an assembly process plan. You first must determine how the new assembly version has been modified. Follow these general steps to determine the changes made in the part structure:
Click the information icon for the new assembly version in the resulting data table of the change notice.
Click on the Structure tab and set the configuration specification filter to reveal the latest version of any state. This will show the in-work version of the assembly being proposed by the design change.
Select Compare to Part Structure from the drop-down actions menu.
Change the filter on one side of the launch dialog to show the latest version in the released state.
Click OK to see a comparison between the latest and working versions of the assembly.
The comparison reveals parts that have been added or removed from the structure of the new assembly version, attribute differences such as quantity, and differences in associated data.
