The benefit of the programmatic hook (Java interface) is enabling virus scanning engine in Windchill for secure file server uploads.

Windchill contains a Java interface to enable secure file uploads. You can configure the virus-scanning hook for your antivirus tool. The hook performs security scans on content files before you upload a file, and if no virus is found, then the content files are successfully uploaded to Windchill or copied from one vault to another. The virus-infected files do not return to the vaults until a confirmation is received from the virus scanner. The hook supports all encryption strategies.
