Option Filter: Support for Identifying User Selected and Rule Driven Choices
Product: Windchill PDMLink
Release: 12.0.0.0
Benefit
Provides the ability to identify the user selected choices, maintaining the order in which they were selected, from the selected choices driven by rules when working with Option Filter. This provides users visibility to understand whether a choice is explicitly selected by the user or is automatically selected by a rule driven by a previously selected choice.
Additional Details
In this release, the Option Filter is enhanced to provide the ability to differentiate between the user selected and rule driven selected choices. The selection status is also included in saved filters and variant specifications along with the order for user selection.
In the left panel of the Option Filter, a new column Selection Status is added in this release to display the status of choices to be either user selected or rule driven.
To control the display of choices in this table, a new preference Selection Status Display Format is added under the Options and Variants node. You can set the value of this preference to any one of the following:
User selected only: Displays only the choices that are selected by user.
Rule driven only: Displays only the status of the selected choices that are driven by rules.
Both: Displays the status of both user selected and rules driven choices.
The default value is User selected only.
When editing a new filter, the Option Filter continues using the user selections having the potential for rules to drive the selection of additional choices. When using a saved filter or a variant specification, the previously selected choices are used.
When editing a previously saved filter or a variant specification through their respective actions to modify the Option Filter, user selected choices are reselected in their original order. When the Option Set definition or Option Set rules have not changed, the resulting rule driven selected choices are also unchanged. When the Option Set definition or Option Set rules have changed, the previously selected choices can change. Depending on these administrative changes, the following scenarios can take place:
Rule driven selected choices may change based upon the same user selected choices.
User selected choices may become rule driven selected choices as a result of the choices selected earlier in the saved order.
As a result of the choices selected earlier in the saved order, the previously selected choices may no longer be considered a valid combination, as defined by the rules.
