Identifying the Current Naming and Numbering Policy
The algorithm used to understand which policy is currently set in the system (for a particular container and class of object) is as follows:
• If auto-numbering is set in object initialization rules, then the policy is auto-numbering.
• If custom behavior is implemented in rules, then the policy is custom.
• If neither auto-numbering or custom behavior is set and the properties are set in the Preference Management utility, the policy is name-driven. This behavior is set in Object Initialization Rules Administration in the Business Administration section of the Utilities page.
• If neither auto-numbering nor custom behavior is set, and the parameter-driven properties are set in the Preference Management utility, then policy is parameter-driven.
• If the number is not set either by auto-numbering or by parameters, then numbering is name-driven.
