Initial Setup
Before you start using Windchill Workgroup Manager, your administrator typically performs an initial setup to configure certain business processes and to establish a seamless data exchange between your application and Windchill. This section describes some of the necessary configurations.
Configuring an Attribute Exchange Between Windchill and your CAD Application
Your CAD or Windchill administrator must map your CAD application properties to Windchill attributes. This mapping ensures that attributes and properties are propagated and properly updated in both Windchill and your CAD tool..
In addition, the administrator may need to manage system attributes and parameters, and customize out-of-the-box Windchill attributes to create the necessary additional CAD attributes.
Using CAD Document Templates
When CAD data is managed by Windchill, you may choose to manage your CAD tool templates in Windchill, and use the WindchillNew CAD Document command to create CAD Documents.
CAD document templates are created and managed from the Templates pages in Windchill, which are accessible only to administrators. CAD document templates can be created in the context of a Product, Library, Project, Program, Organization, or Site.
Creating a Repository for Your Data
Before you start working on a new design, your administrator typically creates a new product or library in Windchill to manage the new product’s data. Within this product, you can then set up a workspace to work on your portion of the design.
To learn about creating a new product or library, see
Product and Library Administration.
Enabling Workspaces
By default, a workspace may not be listed in the Windchill navigation pane in the embedded browser or in a standalone Windchill installation. To control the display of the workspace in the navigation pane, access > in the WindchillPreference Management utility.
