Creating CAD Structure
Creo CADDS 5 has the ability to create Windchill objects in two separate ways, CAMU structure and File structure. In CAMU structure, objects are shown in their relationship to the parent structure. Logical nodes, that is objects with no CAD content, can be created as CAD documents without content and their relationship to the parent structure is preserved in Windchill. In other words, the assembly structure, as shown in the CAMU tree, is replicated in Windchill. This mode is useful when working in a top-down approach for product modeling.
Parts that do not have an associated CAD model, or which have content and are structurally significant (for example, they have child structures within the CAMU tree), are referred to as “logical nodes.”
In contrast, File structure does not allow for the creation of empty nodes. CAD documents are created only for nodes that have associated CAD models. As such, the assembly structure in Windchill may not replicate the structure of the CAMU tree.
To select between CAMU and File mode, you must set the WindchillCADDS 5 Assembly Structure preference. This is done using the Windchill Preference Management utility. .
