Managing Attribute Visibility in CAD Applications and Windchill
The visibility setting for the EPM Upload operation determines whether the Windchill attribute is editable by the CAD application. If you change the visibility setting for the EPM Upload operation for a mapped attribute, the CAD parameter access to Windchill is changed accordingly. Changes made to the mappings become effective on the next upload of new and existing CAD documents.
• If the visibility setting is Read/Write, then the Windchill attribute value is propagated to the CAD parameter on upload, the value can be edited in the CAD application, and the parameter value is propagated to the Windchill attribute on the next upload. This is the default visibility setting for mapped attributes.
• If the visibility setting is Hidden, then the Windchill attribute value is not propagated to or from the CAD parameter.

The default behavior for a parameter that is mapped to an attribute with the EPM Upload operation visibility setting set to Hidden results in an error during upload and the upload operation fails. The error message is displayed in the event console. This behavior can be changed by setting the property file shown below using the xconfmanager utility.
By setting the service.properties file using the xconfmanager tool, the parameter is ignored and the upload is successful. The event console shows the warning message. This setting also supports a similar mechanism for "Type Mismatch" warning.

• The Value Hidden and Read Only visibility settings are not supported for the EPM Upload operation, and should not be used.
