Installing on a Different Host
Use the following procedure if you are installing the JDBC adapter to run out-of-process with Info*Engine running on a different host. The following steps are applicable to Windows, but the procedure is nearly the same for all supported operating systems.
*
You can click Back and Next throughout the installation process if you want to revise the installation selections.
1. Start the installer as follows:
On a Windows system, if you are installing the adapter from a CD-ROM and have autorun enabled, the installer starts automatically.
If the installer does not start within 30 seconds or you have downloaded the software, double-click the setup.vbs file that resides at the top level on the CD or downloaded directory.
On a UNIX system, execute the setup file that resides at the top level on the CD or downloaded directory.
The Before You Begin panel opens. Click Next.
2. On the Select Installation Type panel, select one of three installation types:
Installation Type
Description
Typical
Install the most common application features.
Configuration
Configure an existing JDBC adapter installation.
Custom
Customize the features being installed.
Select Typical. This option installs default settings and is recommended for most users. Click Next.
3. Click Next. On the Select Directory panel, specify the installation directory for the JDBC Adapter. You can also click Browse to find the directory.
4. The Specify Option panel opens.
Select one of the following options:
In-process with Info*Engine
If you choose this option, see Installing on the Info*Engine Host.
Out-of-process (with Info*Engine on the same host)
If you choose this option, see Installing on the Info*Engine Host.
Out-of-process (with Info*Engine on a different host)
If you choose this option, click Next.
5. The Important Information panel opens. Follow all the instructions in the panel and enter the directory location for the IeAdapter.zip file in the field that appears at the bottom of the panel. Click Next.
6. The Specify Database Type panel opens. Specify whether the adapter will connect to an Oracle or a non-Oracle database.
If you select Oracle, specify the installation directory for Oracle.
If you select a non-Oracle database, additional manual steps will be necessary once the JDBC adapter has been installed. For more information, see Additional Installation Steps for Non-Oracle Databases.
Click Next.
7. The Specify Configuration Info panel opens. The default values appearing in this panel can be replaced by those that are appropriate to your installation. Click Next.
8. On the Select Shortcut Location panel, select a location for the shortcut to the JDBC adapter. Click Next.
9. On the Review Settings page, review the pre-installation settings information that appears. This information includes the product name, install folder, shortcut folder, install set, and production components. If you need to make a change, click Back.
10. Click Install.
11. When the installation completes successfully, the Installation Complete window displays the directory where the JDBC adapter is now installed.
*
If you are running the adapter out-of-process on a different host, you must install jdbc.ldif to create a JDBC LDAP entry. To do this, copy the jdbcAdapter.jar file from the adapter installation directory. Later you will save the copy to the codebase\WEB-INF\lib directory where Info*Engine is installed. For more information, see JDBC Adapter Configuration.

The installation log files are located in the <installation_directory>\installer\logs directory. The log files for the installation are named:
JDBCAdapter_InstallLog.xml
JDBCAdapter_PtcInstall.log
