CN Number Over 12 Characters
There is a difference in the allowed database character length for the CN number attribute in Windchill and the change master attribute number in SAP to which it is mapped. The Windchill CN number field limit is 32 characters, whereas the SAP change master number field limit is 12 characters. If CNs from Windchill have CN numbers that are greater than 12 characters, an error appears and middleware processing ends.
To prevent this from happening, you can do one of the following:
• Ask your administrator to add validation to the Windchill GUI to prevent CNs that are over 12 characters. For more information on how to limit attribute lengths in Windchill PDMLink, refer to the section Customizing Column Lengths in the Windchill Customizer’s Guide.
• Ask your administrator to modify SAP to allow change masters to be created with numbers up to 32characters.
• Modify the EAI software components to truncate CN numbers to meet the required SAP field length.
